Has the fourth wave of Corona arrived? 50 thousand cases in a week, biggest jump since January


Covid-19 Coronavirus India Update: During the last one week (6-12 June) in India, about 49 thousand new cases were registered. 25,596 more cases were found than the week before that.


The continuous jump in the cases of corona virus is pointing towards the fourth wave. During the last 24 hours, 8,084 new cases were reported and 10 patients died. In the update released by the Ministry of Health on Monday (June 13, 2022) morning, active cases have reached 47,995. There has been an increase of 3,482 in active cases as compared to Sunday. The week ended June 12 saw nearly 50,000 Covid cases, the highest since the third wave of the pandemic in January. More than 23,000 cases were reported in the week that ended on Sunday as compared to the previous week. Kovid infection is increasing in almost every state/UT. It is a matter of relief that there is no such increase in the death toll.


Last week (June 6-12) about 49 thousand Kovid cases came which is 90% more than 25,596 cases found in the previous week. On a weekly basis, such a huge jump in corona cases has been seen for the first time after 21-27 February. Then more than 86,000 cases were detected. The difference of more than 23,000 in the figures for the last two weeks was seen between January 17-23.


Where did most corona cases come from this week?


The maximum number of 17,380 cases came from Maharashtra. There was a jump of 140% in cases this time against 7,253 last week. Kerala is also expected to have more than 14,500 cases. The state government releases the data a day later. In Kerala too, this time 70% cases have increased as compared to last week. Of the total cases that came from India in a week, 65% came from these two states.


Corona caught hold in Delhi-NCR too


After declining for four consecutive weeks, the corona graph has started climbing again in Delhi. The capital received 4,068 cases last week, which is 68% more than the previous week (2,419 cases). There is a spurt in Kovid infection around Delhi as well. Haryana has received 2,029 cases within a week, which is 65% more than the last time. In UP, this week's figure stood at 1,295 cases, which is 32% more than the last time.


Positivity increased almost everywhere in the country


Kovid infection is increasing in almost all parts of the country. On a weekly basis, 2,795 new cases were reported from Karnataka (84% more), Tamil Nadu reported 1,299 cases (63% higher), Telangana 851 (97%) and Andhra Pradesh 117 (86%).


New cases doubled in Gujarat as compared to last week. This time 790 cases were found there. 663 cases came from West Bengal while more than 250 cases were detected in Punjab too. Corona patients have increased in Bihar also within the last two days.


Has the fourth wave of corona arrived?


Speculation of a fourth wave has intensified due to the fresh spurt in Corona cases. Many experts refused to consider the increase in cases as a sign of a new wave. According to health experts, this increase in corona numbers are the fluctuations that are seen in the endemic stage of the epidemic. However, he mentioned the need to keep an eye on the corona figures for the next few weeks.
